The Atelier

Every Elanwood piece leaves one small atelier in India. No production line, no outsourcing · one bench, eleven steps, and a 48-hour cure that will not be hurried.

Eleven steps, no shortcuts

Boards begin as rough-sawn lumber and end as heirlooms. Selection and acclimatisation, milling, end-grain glue-up · more than 200 individual blocks in a full-size board · a 48-hour clamped cure, flattening, graduated sanding, raising the grain with water, final passes to a glass-smooth surface, oiling, burnishing, and a hand inspection before each piece is packed with its care kit.

Materials

Seven species, chosen for density, closed grain, and food safety:

• American Black Walnut
• White Oak
• Acacia
• CP Teak
• Padauk
• Maple
• Cherry

Every surface is finished exclusively with Odie’s Oil, a food-safe, solvent-free finish, and joined with a waterproof, food-safe wood adhesive.

The care ritual

Hand wash with mild soap. Never the dishwasher, never a soak. Dry standing on edge. When the surface turns pale, re-oil using the care kit that ships with every piece · a 25-year lifespan is a habit, not an accident.
